Uniqueness of Christian Counseling
- The Bible is the final standard of authority for the
counselor; not a particular philosophy of man. Practical
guidelines are found in the Bible for responsible
behavior.
- The indwelling power of God and responsible actions of
man work together for solutions.
- The past is not denied, but dealt with
- (I John 1:9) "If we confess our sins, He is faithful
and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness."
- A relationship of spiritual love can develop from the
counselor to the counselee, giving to the counselee the
love and self-worth they need.
- The message of restoration knows no barriers. Jesus said
"...and him that cometh to me I will no wise cast
out." (John 6:37b)
- Christian counseling ministers to the whole person:
spirit, soul and body. "And the very God of peace
sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and
soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ." (IThes. 5:23)
